Stéphane BULAN was born in 1954 in La Rochelle (France).
After studies short but brilliant (but especially short) it will be journalist and caricaturist. It becomes professional painter in 1975.
In 1977, it between to the Gallery Drouant (that closes in 1978). Its style is then in the spirit postimpressionnist, marked by an effect of clear obscure some piecemeal. Its exhibitions succeed in all France until what it discovers by 1990 the region méditerranéenne, Marisa Berenson and the Jing - Ping - Mei in the translation of Maurice Lévy to the "Pléiade", discoveries that drive it to borrow ways of an increasingly luminous expression and divested, his discovery of the provence and of the deep South lead his painting to a sense of sobriety and luminosity endlessly enhanced. ...
